Does Bildstak support IFC?

Yes, Bildstak fully supports IFC. It ingests IFC files natively, indexing every element by its GlobalID so the 3D model becomes the join backbone for schedule, cost, RFIs, BCF issues and COBie data — all queryable in plain English through the AI chat and Element Inspector.

Yes, Bildstak has native IFC support at its core. IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) is the open BIM standard that describes building elements and their properties, and Bildstak treats it as the primary join key for the entire data federation.

How IFC works in Bildstak:

  • Element indexing — every element in the IFC file is indexed by its GlobalID, which Bildstak uses to link records from other systems (RFIs, cost lines, BCF issues, schedule activities) back to the element they concern.
  • Property access — quantities, material attributes, type classifications and custom property sets from the IFC are all queryable via the AI chat and the Element Inspector.
  • 3D visualisation — the model is rendered in the browser; clicking an element opens the Inspector showing all cross-source records linked to it.
  • Federation — IFC elements are the spine of the federated model, so BCF, COBie and IDS data all resolve against the same element set.
  • IDS validation — Bildstak can validate the IFC against an IDS (Information Delivery Specification), checking that required properties are present and correctly populated.

Bildstak reads IFC files uploaded directly or delivered via Autodesk APS, Speckle, or other connected sources. If the project has multiple federated IFC models (structural + MEP + architecture), Bildstak can handle the combined element set.
